Now that this week is over reality is starting to set in.
The silence still hurts and there are constant reminders of Kolby everywhere, but for me the hardest part is how sad our middle daughter still gets when she says she misses Kolby. She loved Kolby and would lay down to snuggle with him on the floor or cover him in blankets and pillows so could be part of her “animal party”.
Kolby’s vet called and left a really nice message today expressing her condolences for our loss of Kolby and commending us for how well we cared for Kolby while he was alive. It was very touching and stirred an odd mix of feeling proud and sad at the same time.
We always did everything we could to provide Kolby with the best possible quality of life and it felt good to have someone else recognize that.
